Default Parking Brake Malfunction??

After hours searching forums, I have not found a problem quite like mine. Similar, but not nearly as moronic. A few weeks ago, my cars ebs and abs lights would come on as well as the red brake light flashing. Then the parking brake light would come on. Hit the "check" button which supposedly tells you the problem and the only thing it would say was parking brake malfunction, no abs or anything else. Yes, the car would beep three times. This was VERY INTERMITTENT but gradually became more frequent. Started happening only like once a week to multiple times a week. I'd turn the car off and back on immediately and the lights were gone. I checked the fuses on the driver side and they were all fine. Unplugged and examined the wires and the connectors that plug into the rear calipers. Seemed fine, did not test with multimeter as I do not know what the readings should be. NOW the driver side connector will not stay plugged in (doesn't snap in so to speak), I can slide it on and off now... Anyways, now the parking brake malfunction lights stays on 24/7 and every so often the ebs and abs lights some on, but no more flashing red brake light like before. It also only beeps once now, no more three beeps like before. Phew!! Thanks for baring with me if you made it through that lol! Anyone with similar problems? BTW it's a 2005 audi A6 3.2. Please don't quote me that tsb, I don't think that's it. The intermittent thing is what really confuses me.

This is definitelly not TSB. There is a known issue with not releasing parking brake, but yours is working just fine, isn't it? So no TSB.

This issue is with wrong ABS module. I have the same problem, same car, except I do not have a solution now.

You can replace your ABS module, that might help. But it will be around $2500, including labor. Missing ABS functionality is not an isssue (well it might be, depending where you live). Parking brake malfunction beeping is.

So I am currently looking for available options (including suppressing beeping). If I will find something, I will update this thread. Also if you have found something, please share.

Possibly the same problem as we do have:

Thanks for the reply. And correct, my parking brake does work fine. Im afraid it is the abs module but like you said, don't really need abs, its just quite annoying. I ordered a scan tool from China but of course its a p.o.s. and doesn't work so im back at square one again.

If you guys are certain it is the ABS module - have you ever considered rebuilding it instead of replacing it? These guys here:
Bosch 8.0 (Audi only) ABS Rebuild | ModuleMaster

offer a rebuild for $350. I've used them before for the instrument cluster (bad screen) and they have been great. That is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new one!

That is great, however they are in Idaho and I am in Arizona. Quite long distance.

You cannot drive car while your ABS module is out, as braking system is not working without ABS module. So shipping your ABS module for a repair is not an option.

I had my abs module repaired by cheap-abs.com. Cost me $250 and got rid of all my lights except the damn parking brake one, which again, my parking brake does work though... And yes, you can drive it without the abs module as I did for just over a week and I live in Wisconsin where it's been snowing. However, you will not having a working speedometer (downloaded an app), odometer (700 unclaimed miles on my car...), cruise control, adaptive headlights (no big deal), power steering was a light rough, and obviously no abs. Just wrap the abs pump and harness in a garbage bag to prevent it from getting dirty. Still want to figure out the damn parking brake light though!

That looks like a great adventure for you! Congrats to repair :-)

So how did you remove that ABS module and having Audi A6 running? Is there any how-to and/or video how to do that at home?
