Question about Unitronic Tuning (2006 A6 4.2)
Hey guys
I'm new to the forum, and have two questions about the Unitronic tuning on 2006 A6 4.2(5V)
1. It says "Audi Factory Safety Limiters Retained" and "Speed Governor Removed", so what's the difference between the limiter and governor? Will there be speed limit after tuning?
2. Will the tuning affect my insurance?(Geico)
Thanks to everyone!

I see you got your answer on a different forum but I'll add my 2 cents to this one:
1. The safety limiter refers to the RPM limitation. You won't be able to go to 8000rpm with this tune - it will remain standard (~6500rpm). Governor removal removes the limitation of a max speed of ~130mph. So basically you can go as fast as the engine will let you.
2. Tricky question. If the tuning shop doesn't tell your insurance of the tune, you never tell the insurance of the tune and there isn't any database the insurance can query to find out - it shouldn't affect your insurance :P
* If you want to play safe, simply ask your insurance and get the answer straight from the source.

Thanks man
I didnot know the 6500rpm and 130mph limits. I got this as a used car, then the case is that it must be a non-factory setting, since I can certainly go over 6500 and 130...I will figure out what is the ECU status now and see if it can be tuned better.
Thanks again

The 2 numbers are just estimated. I don't know the exact limitations of each Audi, year and model are - they might be different for each car.
Basically the rev limiter makes sure you cannot go into the red line (whatever shows on your RPM gauge) and the governor won't allow you to go over a certain speed limit which is somewhere around 130 or 140
