I'm part way through replacing the compressor on my 2001 2.7 turbo. Do you think Audi deliberately hid the thing this deeply? I've got the front in the service position and have removed the intercooler on that side, but I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to completely remove the radiators etc in order to be able to get anywhere near being able to remove the old compressor and replace it.

Has anyone any tricks as to how to best replace the AC compressor. Bentley, normally a great source of information, simply says "unbolt from bracket". Easy for them to say!

If you've done this, I NEED your help! Is it possible to do without removing the entire front and possibly also the oil filter and carrier?
