Service warning indicator?
Hi all,
I'm the new owner of a 2004 Audi A6 3.0, so when I shift the car from "P" to "D" I see a service warning indicator on the dash. What does that mean? Is it for an oil change time?
Thanks.

The little alert will go off when you go from park into any other gear to warn you of little things like low washer fluid, low fuel, brake pad worn down, service interval (not sure about this one), etc. Are you talking about the actual LCD display in the middle, or the little 'service' word in the odometer?

Yes, the one that displays on the LCD saying "Service". This only displays while shifting from park to drive. I read in the owner's manual that when it's time for the oil change it displays that warning and then after oil change to do the reset.
I'll try that out and see what happens....thanks.

okay, I did the oil change today and reset the service warning indicator and now it does not show up when I shift from P to R.
To reset the service warning
Turn off the ignition
Then, turn on the ignition again (do not start the engine) and on the cluster hold down the button (2) on the right side. "SERVICE" will appear on the display.
Press down button (1) on the left until "SERVICE" text is cleared. This display should show at the next service event.
This is how I did it.
Thanks.

Well, this morning I started the car and shift from P to R and the SERVICE! warning indicator came back.
I'm going to try to reset it again or probably reverse the steps, instead of pressing button 2 and button 1 I'm going to try button 1 and then button 2.
Thanks.
