Tip Transmission slipping in reverse
I have a 2000 a6 2.7t. I having a problem with the trans slipping/not engaging only in reverse. 1-5 working fine.
It works perfect on start up, only happens after its warmed up takes 3-4sec's to engage.
Also was hooked up to a Vag and got
p1850- missing massage from ECU
any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm getting it done this Monday. I will post the results. I doubt it will work, just not 100% yet.
I even emailed a tech guy at ZF still waiting for a reply, Hes on vacation till Aug. 6th
I have done alot of research on this. I just didn't want to rebuild but it real looks like that's the answer. Ill keep you posted. Just take it easy on your trany, no gas till its engaged. still might be hope. fingers crossed.

Update
I received an email back from ZF this is what he said.
"From your description, I suspect a problem with EDS solenoid 3 or the D clutch. EDS 3 comes on in reverse and manual 1st only. You could try manual 1St to confirm if the problem exists, if yes changing out EDS 3 requires removing the valve body. In the grand scheme of repairs, this would be as simple as they come for this transmission. If a large quantity of debris is found when the pan is removed, larger problems may be on the horizon. Shift solenoids are available through any ZF parts distributer. I do need to caution that without having the transmission apart on the bench this is my best guess.
So EDS3 solenoid may be an option.
Ill keep you posted blackarachnid87

Update
Just an update. It wasn't the EDS solenoid 3 and was the reverse drum.
I had the trans rebuilt also the TC. Now after getting it back I have a new problem..
The trans is slipping under medium to heavy throttle in first and possibly second..
The car was under warranty so only had to pay half the cost .. I took it back to the shop I bought the car from, he said that the trans fluid isn't low. The shop owner said it may be a bad TCU but I know better
Its it the clutch packs or TC? It isn't throwing any codes.
I need some help with this guys. any suggestions
Thanks
