How to bleed air from cooling system
2000 A-6 2.7 Quatro:
What is correct procedure for bleeding air from cooling system ???
Just had water pump, thermostat, timing belts, etc. replaced and heater blows cool air at idle but as soon as engine is revved I get hot air which makes me think I have air in the system and that it needs to be bled.
Coolant level has been checked and is at correct level in expansion tank.
Thank you in advance for any help
Kurt

You probably already found a solution, but if not, or if others find this thread:
There's a 5mm allen head bolt right by the diverter valves that needs to be cracked open until a steady stream of fluid can be seen. Tighten back up.
Then locate the heater core and you will notice one of the hoses with a white circle on it. In the middle of that circle is a pin hole to allow air/fluid to escape. Undo the clip on the hose and then slowly slide it off until ONLY the pin hole is off of the metal flange below. This will allow any stuck air in the heater core to escape.
Hope that helps.

Nebuchadnezzar,
Thank you for your much valued reply.
I am trying to locate the bleeder screw your refered to but don't know where to find the diverter valve you referenced.
Where is this valve located on my 2000 A-6?
Thank you for your help
