Right side turbo was blown. ended up replacing both Turbos and oil lines plus while It was being worked on I got my T-Belt done also along with Aux water pump. The car is broken in and pulls hard now and is doing fine.

Problem of this whole thing was Right side Turbo oil line seized up

Since I have a turbo leaking oil, how much did the turbo repairs cost? I am having my TB done this month. Not ready to replace turbos yet but need to put aside the budget money.

In any case the cost of turbos replacement far exceeds the value of the car...
Book labor is ~24-27h

Value is in the eye of the owner. My A8 is eight years old with 185k miles, but is in excellent condition. I figure my cost of a similar "fun" car would set me back $25-30k (2-3 year old S4 or maybe even a little older RS4). So plopping $1200 into a TB job next week is just high maintenance. Brakes and rotors all around just set me back $1000 last month (but the last set lasted 75k). And if the turbos eventually go, then I figure $6-8k for K04s, injectors, piggie pipes and I have ~400hp; vs $3-4k just to replace the stock K03s. The only open question is do I need to upgrade intercoolers and should I pull the heads and rebuild valves, replace gaskets, etc to handle the additional power?

You don't need to upgrade the intercoolers but it will free up some more boost. Im running ko4's and just the bi pipe and some new dv's and there car handles the power well.

The cost for replacing both turbos, timing belt, and aux water pump was about 6000.

Turbos should outlast the car. Use good oil and change it regularly. Save your money for a trade in should your turbos go.

Question Turbo problems

My 2001 A6 2.7t was just diagnosed at 130k mi as needing 2 new turbos. Dealer estimate is $4800. Is it work repairing or would I be better off selling for parts and finding another one?
I replaced the timing belt and both water pumps a few months ago. The car runs fine otherwise.
