r.e. disabling the rear bumper sensors - I just push the button on the center console when backing up with a trailer. Yes it's inconvenient, but I haven't put the effort into a more elegant solution.

Thumbs up Looks great - got diagrams for a 2013 A6?

This thread is awesome! I want to do the same thing on my new A6, but I don't have a friend who is a Audi tech to get the wiring diagrams. Any advice on finding the info for a 2013 A6?

Thanks.

Default Install time

Ken, I asked the Audi dealer to install the electrical for my hitch and they said it would take 6 - 8 hours at $130 an hour and would need $450 of parts for a harness of electrical wires and the 4 way flat plug. Does this make sense to you?

Thanks.

If anyone is interested, etrailer.com has a video on how to install this kit on a 2011 Audi Q5. Just search for C56200KIT and scroll down for the video.

Frank,

Yes, that's about what they charge - I think I was quoted $1400. That's why I decided to do it myself.

That's because we istall the trailer tow module and related wire harness along with recoding other modules so they "know" there's a trailer module and it all works together, same as if it was a factory installed hitch/wiring. Also, the vehicle database (Audi) is changed to reflect the new hardware installed.
That said, it's not 6-8 hours. Last one I did took roughly 3 hours, that included installing the actual hitch and doing the electrical portion.

Any reason to believe this won't work on a 2013 Q5? The wire layout in that back corner appears similar...

Default Problem with Audi q5 2012

I have tried Tow Ready ModuLite Protector 119180 and the same instructions from the you tube but it didn't work at all ! i have an voltmeter and i check the volt on the 4 way connector it is 0.65v so the trailer lights doesn't work ! so i thought maybe tow ready is not compatible with my car or if it defective ! so i have returned it and i bought yesterday curt 56200 and followed the same instruction and same pins number and didn't work either , and the same voltage when i tried to troubleshoot.

I called Curt troubleshot line and they said they never confirmed it works on audi q5 2012 , i just called uhaul in the area for installation , they said they will charge $150 and i asked which converter will they use they said curt 56200.

Can you please confirm what to do , caz i am lost here and i dont want to pay extra

Default 2013+ note

If you are reading this and have a 2013 or 2014, note that the wiring was changed. This curt PWM module is no longer needed but rather a common 3 to 2 wire converter like the ones available from curt, walmart, or uhaul #14493. It should be wired as follows from the same wiring area behind the right rear panel in the hatch...
