Q5 2012 burning through oil post 65k service
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I ran into an issue with my car and I would like to request some advice on how to proceed.. I have a 2012 Q5 2.0T.
My car has developed an engine oil burning issue. I have always serviced my car only at Audi dealerships It was absolutely fine till the 65k servicing at this dealership. After the 65K servicing my car is burning a quart of oil every 1000-1200 miles.
The first time I went to the dealer(Audi Conshohocken PA), they sent me back after just topping off the oil. The next time I went, the dealership spent the entire day on the car and could not find any issues. They suggested I do an Audi oil consumption test. Now the car has failed the test and the dealer says that I will need to replace the pistons. Audi has offered to cover 50% of the charges which still amounts to approx $2400.
There was a class action lawsuit for Q5's and other cars for the same issue in the years 2009-2011. Even though my model year is different, the engine code is the same. However, Audi says that my car is not covered under the lawsuit.
I'm trying to figure out how to minimize the financial impact. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Call the 800 Audi customer care number and speak with them. They rebuilt my 2011 for free before the lawsuit. Not burning a drop now. New pistons, rings, rods, plugs installed and I was given an loaner for 4 days while they did it. I had 85,000 when it was done.

Q5 2012 Oil low 5 mo later after service (57k miles)
Hello,
I just found this forum.
I too have a 2012 Audi Q5 PP with 57K miles. Been to the Audi dealership for all the services with the last one June/July 2016.
Just experienced a dashboard indicator that the vehicle was low a quart so I refilled. The MMI never reset correctly, not that it was registering at the time the dashboard notified of low oil.
I called the dealership to bring it in (12/20) after explaining that I just had service 5 months ago.
What happened to your situation with your Q5?
Thank you
