2007 Audi Q7 Amp Fried by Water

You can install a used amp but will still need to take it to the dealer to remove the component protection on the amp online and possibly code it correctly. However this doesn't cost nearly 1/4 of what they would charge.
I still have 3 amps in working good condition if any one is interested. $450 shipped obo.

Hi. I have the same issues with my 2007 Q7 as well. I havent had issues with my Service Department here in the US, however they estimated my repairs to be over $3000 (repair leak and new amp). I am also having problems with my battery running low and I assumed that it was becuase of the fried amp, and I guess my assumtions were correct! I havent had much luck with finding a used amplifier (that I can trust) here in US. Its not often that they post one on Ebay but it's gonna cost around $600 for one (used). If/when you get your DIY, please let me know. I would like to repair the amp myself. Thanks for your post. It was certainly helpful!

Hi all my 2009 Q7 amplifier was replaced with a board from China purchased thru eBay and took the car to an Audi dealer and the made it work. Fix the water leak with a new hose from the sunroof right side area and no more water leaks anymore coming directly to the amplifier and rear right seat belt. Here in Florida it rains hard in summer time and was the main reason that damaged the amplifier and battery draining every day.
The new circuit board was $198.00 on eBay a new 5/16 clear hose and a metal clamp for $8.00 amd $155.00 dealer service and enjoying the stereo system every time I use my Q7.

fix it yourself not hard.
I went to a u-pull yard and got an amp from a 2006 A6 for $30CDN. There are two chips on the board you have to swap for the security feature but it's super easy, anyone can do it (if I can!). I got a rework station off Amazon for $80CDN and had zero prior experience. Swapping the chips took less than a minute. Just blow the hot air over the chip and pull up with some tweezers until it releases. On the donor board just place it and hold the chip down and apply hot air until it "sits". Didn't need any extra solder or flux or anything. Instructions I found online here https://www.opuradio.com/blog/how-to...l-a8-mmi-2g-15. One thing is he has A1 B1 on the first pic but should be labelled A1 and A2. So after I did that and it all worked I went out about a week later and the spare tire well was full of water because I didn't properly fix the leak! Had to get another amp and start over. Here's how to fix the leak, which is also easy and when I say that I mean I just followed the video and had no issues. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SPrD9Jfqy_s. Most of the headliner is held by clips so easy to pull down.
