Default Tow Package installation for Q7

Hello,
I just bought a tow package for my Q7 including the wiring. I'm very handy and was wondering how involved this project is to install? Can I trim the romovable middle section or do I have to buy a new one?

For OEM it is a new part (which also may need painted). If you are very skilled, trimming the old may be an option, but you will need to figure out who to clean the trimmed edge.

Also caution, once the rear bumper is back on, it's not easy to put in place. So I've been driving most of the winter without it there as it's not an easy task.
