Default New TT Owner

Just bought an '01 TT quattro as a daily driver in what I thought was fairly good condition. The seller had a pile of service receipts and physically the car looked and drove great. Sure enough after about a week it the engine started to run very rough. I had previously arranged for Audi service to supply and program a new ignition key, so when the car was in for programming I had the engine checked out. An ignition coil had failed so I had all four replaced. The service manager told me that the car generally is not in bad shape and with 145k miles the coils were certainly past their fail date. Car runs great now. ( Previous owner had the timing belt replaced) I've been driving BMW's for many years and could always get DIY parts and information from the Bavarian Autosport parts supplier. I was wondering if their is an similar Audi specialist supply source.I will attempt to do many minor fixes in my garage so is the Bentley Manual for this car worth the $100 cost? For instance the front parking lights don't work and I'd like to install a set of driving lights to use at times when the Headlights aren't needed. Were "fog" lights standard equipment or optional on later TTs? My car has a switch for them. I'd appreciate any suggestions? Thanks

Also, a couple of websites with decent prices on parts:
ECS Tuning
AudiUSAParts.com Actual Dealership in WA (I think).
MJM Autohaus

Enjoy.

wak-tt helped me out a ton
the best thing you can buy is a vag-com though. you can pin point problems, even make your car do some cool things, measure boost, log runs and what not. vag-com is why the 5 dash lights on my car are now gone.

you can get vcds-lite(usually all you need) for a fairly cheap price if buying a aftermarket usb to obd port
