Default Power window woes....

I have a 2002 TT and the drivers power window motor was not working at all, just clicking. I took apart the motor and transmission cleaned and properly lubricated brushes, gears, etc. The motor is now working properly but...The motor will only run for a half or one second then stop, You have to let off the power window switch and then push it again to go another half to one second, the window moves an inch or so. This happens going up or down but mostly going down. Oh yea and now the motor runs in reverse. This is really confusing. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

I'm guessing a bad armature in the motor but I'm no expert.

I wonder if a bad armature would cause it to run backwards....??

Before reading this please understand that I have not taken these Window motors apart before so therefore my train of thought it purely from an electrical troubleshooting stand point. If I were thinking about this problem electrically, I would wonder if I had somehow reversed the electrical signal somehow. This would essentially be changing a normally open circuit to a normally closed circuit therefore possibly reversing polarities (I think I've got my logic going the right way). In other words, if pushing the window switch down causes the motor to spin clockwise then reversing these electrical signal wires could cause a reverse in operation. Hope this helps in some shape, form or fashion.

Thanks for the reply HunTTsVegas. I checked the switch and it was correct. Plug wasnt reversed nor was the switch installed backwards, hmmm. The plug from the motor can only install in the proper direction. I often wondered if a ground came loose from the motor plug. There were about 15 or so wires going to the plug. I have since sold the car but it would be nice if someone could figure this out for the next victim!!

Almost sounds like the circuit/controller involved with lowering and raising the window, when the door is opened/closed, is stuck in "operative" mode. Power intoduced to the window circuit only moves the window 3/4 of an inch. Don't know how to trouble-shoot this. You could check the switches (handles and door jam) to see if they appear OK.
