TB Claims my head
So a week or so ago my i was downshifting taking an exit off the highway when my 2001 Audi TT 180Q started to shake.... i threw it out of gear and hit seemed it would only shake between 2000-3000 rpms.... a quick trip to the mechanic and he diagnosed it has a bad flywheel. I figured that i would get the TB done being that it was at 80k already.... so mechanic pulls the cover off and noticed the cam was behind the crank about 3 teeth. so he went on to replace all parts involved in a TB kit and he did align the cam back up to alignment marks. buttons the car back up goes to start it, it cranks but wont turn over. pulled a pluG no fuel..vag com'd it and came up as cam sensor, replaced it cleared codes... then again same thing this time pulled a plug and it was covered in fuel.... Moving on had it towed to the dealer and a few hours later they come back that all four cylinders had 0 compression and that the engine needed a new head. I thought when the head went it was more dramatic? would it slowly mess itself up being that it was off 3 teeth off? I got a used head on hold and was looking for some input...

When I saw the timeing belt had been off a few teeth, the first thing I would have done was a compression test, followed by a leakdown test. Even if the belt just jumps time, it still has a high chance of messing up the head. Gotta love interference motors. One thing I miss about my 4G37 (1.8L DSM) was that it was non-interference....
