Default Window has a mind of its own

So my driver side window will lower and raise on its own instead of when i open/shut my door. I'll be driving down the road and it will lower when i hit a bump or just randomly. If I hit my door with my hand it will raise back up. Also i cant lock my car because it will lower after i lock it and set off my alarm. Is there a sensor that I can change out or what? its kind of annoying. Thanks

Have you checked the sensor for open/closed door? It should be somewhere by the hinges. This sensor recognizes when the door is opened, so the window lowers. Then recognizes when the door is closed and the window raises. If it's faulty, it could be sending mixed signals to the computer.

I did a quick google search. Turns out the sensor is inside the door, but apparently it is quite easy to take apart.

The Mk1 Audi TT Enthusiast Guide: Door sensor fix - DIY

That guide talks about buying/using a non OEM switch, but I'm sure you can purchase a new one from Audi for relatively cheap.

Now, I'm assuming that you are talking about the window lowering and raising just that little bit which is supposed to happen when you open/close the door. If the window is raising and lowering all the way down/up, then this is a completely different issue.

Looks pretty doable, going to check out my radio shack for that switch. Thanks so much, glad its nothing crazy expensive!
