Cool 2001 A4 1.8t B5 Shooting P0444, P1289, P1472

Hey guys, so I have my 2001 audi a4 1.8t Q and I am shooting several codes.

P0444 - EVAP System Purge Control Valve Circuit Open
P1289 - Turbo charger Bypass valve short to ground
P1472 - EVAP Control System LDP Circuit Short to Ground

P0102 - Mass Air Flow
P0012 - Cam Sensor
P0135 - O2 B1 Sensor1
P0136 - O2 B1 Sensor2

My car is running but is running with just about zero power and boost(Though I have not physically tested the boost yet). My voltage gauge has been fluctuating a bit but no major jumps. I was having a misfiring problem for a bit. My timing belt was skipping teeth. I replaced my timing belt and did the waterpump upgrade along with it but still was not having full power and these codes stuck around.

If anyone has any advice on what may be happening to my baby that'd be amazing, Thanks.

Have you tried clearing the codes and waiting to see which ones pop back up, because that's a lot of ****?....and unless your ECM is bad, there's no way they could all be related.

Yes I have tired clearing all the codes and all these came back on. She isn't warming up when I turn her on for the first time in the morning as well. The RPMs will shoot up then just go right down to 800 RPMs at idle.

Is there a way to check if my ECM is bad? Or do you have any other suggestions on what else it could be?

Also, forgot to mention that sometimes in the morning when i turn her on (im from mass so its freezing) and let my car warm up for a bit, it will start pouring smoke out the exhaust that smells like oil burning!! I have seen other posts in the past about this but never saw a solution to the problem. Not sure if this may be related to the codes somehow.

The oil burning smell is most likely coming from bad rings, or a bad turbo, but those are both worst case scenarios. It might not be as serious as that (it sounds like it though).

The best way to test the ECM - IMO, is to get a known working ECM and swap them out, if only for testing purposes. I would (personally) try that first. It would either answer all of your questions at once, or verify that you're screwed (not to be harsh).

If you want to do it the long way/hard way, you can troubleshoot each code using Ross-Tech's WiKi. Just google (For example) "Ross Tech P0444 ". The first search result should be their page and it will give you symptoms, possible causes and possible fixes, but you'd have to not only do that for each code, but you'd have to do the actual troubleshooting work to the car (that is recommended). By doing that, you run the risk or throwing away a lot of money.
