Default 99 Audi A4 Starting Problems

OK, this is the 1st time this has happened to me. I ran into McDonalds real quick and then I came back out to my car and it won't start. It doesn't even turn over. But all of the gauges and lights, heat and music turn on but the car WONT EVEN turn over. Please help me. Any ideas? THANKS!

well 1st you have to ask some to try to start while you listen if there is any click on the starter. may be starter is gone. if no then check fuses or put yur transmission in on N and pull brake then try again.may be yur safty swith is stuck.

I say its the alternator. If all your electrical turns on (radio, dash lights, heat etc) you're getting current and if you hear a small clacking noise when you turn the ignition then maybe its your starter. Did any of you guys' battery light come on before this happened?

Couldn't that just be bad coilpacks?

Your car would turn over I believe. The coilpacks wouldn't send the voltage down to jump across your spark plugs to ignite the A/F mixture; and, it's very unlikely that all four went kaput all at once.

Don't call the stealership, call a local shop. They usually charge less for the same quality job.

Should have checked the basic things to begin with; check the spark plugs to make sure they're gapped and not fouled, autozone can check the coilpacks to see if they are good, fuses, battery. Taking your car to an Audi dealership is just like bending over in the showers at prision, its a bad idea and its gonna hurt like hell. keep us updated on what it is

Turns out a the timing belt slipped off and now my engine is blown. All because the original owner forgot to put a single washer on after he replaced the timing belt.
