Default CEL fixed - NOT

[:@]CEL came back after about 75 miles. Reset by pulling neg terminal on battery. CEL came back in 10 miles. Still showing P1128 at Autozone. Had them reset it and it came back in 5 miles. I started working on removing the 5/16 vac line under the G12 coolant overflow (I've changed 4 other vac lines) which i think runs from the manifold to the vacuum reservoir hidden in the wheel well. So, as I broke it loose it made a hissing sound, which to me is good news when looking for a leak. That tells me "no leak" because the line was either under pressure or vacuum. I've blown propane all over the engine compartment from my little benzomatic, I've sprayed carb cleaner all over every friggin line in there, and I haven't heard idle speed changes which might indicate leaks, where hydrocarbons were sucked in and burned. I've "cleaned" the MAF by removing the big hose (TIP?) and spraying MAF Cleaner into there.

Any other suggestions?

At this point I'm thinking of going to buy an Autozone MAF. I have no mods on this car. I know about ECS tuning, etc, but won't a $72 MAF from AZ do the trick at about half the price?

Maf should give different codes I thought........

Does the car have any drivability problems or other symptoms?

Since the code says lean, it could be a fuel delivery prob, or your intake manifold hose is loose or cracked. Maybe FPR, or injector, or fuel pump/filter.

If you want to test the maf, unplug it and see if the car runs better without it hooked up, that would indicate a bad maf.

look for a deteriorated check valve around the airbox area as well, these have caused the same problem you are having.

[:@]No drivability problems, but for the first few miles after I unplugged the battery and reset everything, it ran poorly, and I thought it might stall at stop signs, and when I stepped on it there seemed to be a little hesitation, but that has gone away now. After reset by autozone VAG it didn't have such symptoms and runs "fine" now.
