OK I'm new to Audi's so forgive my ignorance.

The bottle that holds coolant under the coolant reservoir. Is it a secondary reservoir of some kind?

All I know is the hose that is connected directly to that bottle and heads toward the bottom of the radiator is broke. It has a plastic piece at the end of it which is where it broke off. I have to prop the hose up so that the coolant doesn't leak. I was able to drive it home a short distance without any coolant leaking out so I'm baffled by what purpose it serves and where it is connected to. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not aware of any kind of secondary coolant tank, could you take a picture of it?

 

I'll post a picture tomorrow morning if need be. I'm caught inside with the little ones right now. It's the bottle directly under the coolant reservoir. Now I'm wondering if it holds coolant or windshield wiper fluid? I just assumed it was coolant.

 

Ok it's definitely a washer fluid line which is a huge relief. Now I just have to figure out where it broke off from. It seems like it was heading toward the head light. But I don't have the headlight washers on my car so how could that be?

 

Maybe the previous owner replaced the front bumper with one that didn't have headlamp washers?

i think the washer system line has a quick connect sorta under the headlight. a picture would definently help.

 

I thought all us-spec B5's came with headlight washers?
