Default B5 Steering Wheel Swap - Is it Doable?

Maybe I didn't type in the correct search words to find the answer I am looking for. But I have been on many Audi forums, Googled, Binged, Yahood, Asked Jeeves searching for the same answer with no success. So I will ask you fine gentleman and ladies (if applicable).

I purchased a used '98 Audi 1.8TQ MT that needs cosmetic work. I have a donor '96 Audi V6 FWD AT that I will be taking the parts from. The '96 Audi has an S-line (3-spoke) steering wheel that I am fancying. I'd like to swap it into my '98 Audi.

Is this doable? If yes, what extra parts would I need (if any)?

I bought mine with the 3 spoke, so I think its safe to assume it can be done. Couldn't tell you how, but I think its a pretty common thing to do.

just curious cragman... the cars that came with the s-line steering wheel is there any reason behind it? like some kind of sport package only option or what?

My 98 has the S 3 spoke wheel. It came as a factory option and was on the window sticker.

Phil, if you have the ski sack, you have the cold weather package which also gives the heated seats (which I love in my car), and if I remember right, the windshield sprayer nozzles are heated so they don't freeze up. Also, the door lock cylinders have a heating element in case the locks freeze. If they do, with the car locked, you lift and hold the handle up for 1-2 seconds, then release, and the heater elements fire up for like 50 seconds to de-ice the locks. That's pretty cool

And my non-sport package 99 pre-facelift car came with the three spoke wheel as well.
