Default Dreaded Oil Pressure Light, HELP!

So I sold my car today, finally (guy is picking it up wednesday), and on my way home the oil light comes on. ****. I shut the car off and pull over immediately. I check the oil and whatnot, looks fine. I hesitantly fire it back up and its fine, drive the rest of the way home. It was only a mile. Should I drive it til Wednesday and see if it comes back on? Should I try the old seafoam and change oil and hope for the best? Should I try to pull the impossible and get the pickup screen cleaned off by Wednesday? I'm stumped. I just don't want it to come back on while he's driving it the 1.5 hours home. What should I do?! [/align]

Check to see if the oil pressure sending unit is ok....look for a leak (that's what happened when my oil light came on)
btw, what are the car specs?

My bad, 97 1.8TQM. 165k. I'll check the sending unit, and I'm thinkin of giving it a seafoam and oil change tomorrow. Can't really hurt I guess. Don't think it's the sending unit though..

You're right. I'm praying to god it is. So if I do the oil change and whatnot, and there is, in fact, oil sludge present in my pick up tube/pump, when would the light turn on? I just went outside and revved it up to like 3k, and held it at 2k for 30 seconds, as someone told me to do on Audizine. No light, nothing. Would it only come on after a long drive? I drove like 100 miles today, and when I was a mile away from my house it came on. I was going 40 at the time.

I would have the car flat bedded to a garage so that they can check the oil pressure. If low, you can be thankful that you caught it in time and can try seafoam.

If it is the sending unit, you can also be thankful.

You think I'll be able to make it 4 miles to the shop? I'll try seafoaming it tomorrow. Seems to run fine at idle now, almost idles smoother than it did before! Also seemed to run fine on the 1/2 mile to my house after I shut it down. No light anymore, by the way.

I had an issue like that before where i was driving and the light came on so i pulled over in a worry, only to find that the oil level was fine.I then started to drive and the light would go on and off whenever if felt like it and it was the oil pressure sensor that was not working correctly.
