Emergency brake light on.

Default Emergency brake light on.

Hey guys,

I have a 96 a4 quattro. I just had the had front brakes changed and my back brakes were fine however the red light that comes on when my E brake is engaged won't shut off. I have a separate ABS light and it doesn't come on and my ABS seems to work fine.. Is there a sensor or something that needs replaced?

Who changed the front brakes? Was the red brake light on before they touched the car? If not, take it back and make them fix it. Your car doesn't have brake pad wear sensors in the front, so you can rule that out right away. Have you checked the reservoir for the brake/clutch fluid? That warning light is sort of multipurpose, could mean a bunch of things.

I dunno if it is still relevant, but on my old 200 the parking brake light also signaled low brake fluid and/or low P/S fluid. I saw this light a lot...
