Head Gasket Replacement

Head Gasket Replacement
I am going to be replacing the head gasket on my 2000 A4 1.8T and would like some input from more knowledgable people.
I've done work on previous cars before, but never the headgasket.
My basic understanding is to remove the valve cover and headbolts, remove head.
Take head to machine shop to make sure it is flat/not cracked, and cleaned out.
Put new gasket down,
put head back on
Torque new headbolts down.
change oil / coolant
drive away.
Seems like a time consuming, but simple job to me. Am i missing something boneheadedly simple or what?

Yup
Hardest part about the headgasket job is the timing belt portion of it, qhich you might as well replace while you are at it. You should remove from the front end to do this too

Did you blow the gasket? New head bolts are required along with the gasket. Have fun.
