Default Heated Seat Retrofit

Quick question...If I do not have the Winter Package in my 98.5 A4 2.8 which has the power leather seats, would those seats have the heating elements? No, the dash does not have the switches either.

I ask, as other manufacturers often install the elements in all seats, and all you need to do is add the switches in some cases, or switches plus a partial harness from a donor vehicle.

Definitely want the heated seats, and hoping that it might be easier than tearing into them and adding an aftermarket set of heaters.

Not sure, but look for the wires coming from the seats.

I am pretty sure the seats with heaters were not fit without the controls. You'd most likely have to buy heated seats and put them in - I don't think you'll have the heating elements.

Currently retrofitting a hybrid of OEM switches with aftermarket elements. Will post details once finished.

The only issue that I have found with that thread is that their wiring diagram/key of the connectors does not correspond with the actual pin numbers on the connectors, and only notes one of the two seat-end plugs. I am working up the actual pin-outs based on the EWD, and will post that with my write-up. This will help for those retrofitting with both the OEM elements, or the heatedseatkits.com ones.

Cheers,

That is one hell of a comprehensive DIY procedure!
