Default Help with Diagnosis please!!

HI I have been looking at audis b5s for a while trying to get a low owner audi that has all records.. and found one yesterday that popped up, car runs and drives excellent with maint. records back to 2002... The only problem is I got in the car and as he said the dash looked like a xmas tree... abs, engine, airbag lights all on.... I have a printout of the diagnosis if anyone can help me read it and tell me approx. how much cash is needed to get this thing to pass inspection and clear the codes... thanks in advance

Hello Kevin,
As i ran into you diag. log i see that you have some sporadic faults (intermittent) these can be easily cleared, just erase the fault using a VAS tester at a dealer ship or just remove the battery earth point for about 10min. then put it back on.
for the ABS you need to visual check on the FR speed sensor , if it's broken or check on the connector for loose contacts or cut in the wire.
If you have a check engine light on , please check fuel quality , and you may need to check on spark plugs and lambda probs.

hope these tips are good for you.

Tips are excellent... I was overwhelmed at first but after looking at it.. nothing to serious be sides the check engine which seems common with these cars after doing my research.. the car runs like a top without the lights on you wouldnt know anything was wrong with it... and now I fell in love with how the audis drive and handle...

Do you think I need to replace my maf or maybe vacuum leaks... looking back through the reciepts it said it may need a crankshaft vent elbow?? Where would I locate this part on my car?? thanks

If you don't have a crappy idle then your maf should be ok. The front ABS sensors report errors, you might have to change them or only clean them and push them deeper, and I don't like the "System too lean" error because it can have multiple causes and you might spend a lot of money to fix it.

Looking at audizine... they say that system running lean and that code is usually a maf or vacuum leak... I am going to take the maf out and clean it then try to figure out how to look for vacuum leaks, I am not sure what the crankshaft vent elbow is that is why I am asking, I have this idea from reading over his old reciepts and work orders. In October it had the same engine codes and the work order said if they come back on to replace the crankshaft vent elbow... anyone know where this is located? thanks

the lean mixture as you know is when you have excess amount of air supplied to the system. leaks in the vacuum system or intake ports won't give a lean mixture. what is the mileage of the car? have you checked on lambda probes signals?

some B5 models have problem from the fuel tank covercap seal, sometimes it cracks and check engine goes on , fuel vapor leak. the lambda probes may become faulty at high mileages. try to check this
