Help! Oil Pressure light-- Oil Pressure Too High???
Was coming home today, and I got the flashing oil pressure light, instantly shut off the engine (it had just finished its second beep, after I said "You've gotta be kidding me"). Popped the hood and I saw oil seeping out from the fill cap. Pulled the dipstick and the oil was way up the dipstick. Wiped the stick off, put it back and the oil level showed normal, oil was NOT foamy.. So Im thinking my pressure is too high?? And I have no idea why.
Heres some other clues to help figure out what is going on:
I did NOT just change the oil, I changed it probably 1500 miles ago.
I just came back from a 2 and a half hour trip (x2 for the return trip-- used a full tank of gas).
I just replaced the oil cooler.
Before the light came on, it was one of the lowest amount of fuel Ive had left in the tank in a long time, the light was on, I was in the solid red, but before the dot, I figure I had about a gallon and a half left. Because of this I was driving VERY easy, never raised the VAC below 5 In HG, usually above 10 In HG of VAC.
Any ideas would be great, I dont even know where to begin

bad pressure sensor?
clogged crankcase breather?
Does your oil cap have a pressure relief built in?
good luck
