Default how do I check injector duty cycle with a multimeter?

I want to measure the injector duty cycle using a multimeter. There are two wires into the injector. I would think that I should ground one wire of the multimeter and tap into one of the injector wires. But which wire do I tap into? Or, do I not ground the multimeter wire and tap into both injector wires? I don't have a VAG-COM

1997 2.8.

To check duty cycle, you need something that can measure time; a multimeter generally cannot do this. If you have an oscilloscope you can find out the duty cycle by measuring the time between open/closed. Best way is VAG-COM since you can get readings direct from the ECU, but maybe somebody can chime in with another alternative (I can't think of any).

Vagcom or a scope. A meter won't react quickly enough (you're talking milliseconds) to show you anything.

My multimeter has a duty cycle setting. I just need to know what wires to probe. There are two on the injectors.

Read this. Very helpful.
