That made me chuckle. Especially on a 1.8t, have fun with your engine sludge.

Mobil 1 0w-40 every 10k miles.
Heavy Duty Mann Filter every oil change.
Seafoam every 40k miles prior to oil change.

What's not to love?

You people are lunatics. If changing your oil 4-6 times a year costs too much, ride a bike. Particularly on an engine known for horrible sludging problems.

I wrote a whole paragraph extolling the virtues of changing your oil, but to hell with it. Go ahead and wait 6 mo. between oil changes, when it blows up bring it to my shop, i'll get you a good deal on a new motor

I highly doubt that. Would love to see what your oil pump pickup screen looks like. Anticipating a part out thread.

Not for long! Oh, I hear taking the valve cover off lets you see the "internals". Seriously, 1.8t motors don't run into a lot of valvetrain issues. Unless it's due to oil starvation, due to sludging....because people didn't change their oil... Or maybe they did and the engine sludged anyway. Are you starting to see why changing your oil should be akin to a holy ritual performed every 3,000 miles or 3 months?
