Keyless Entry Battery Replaceable?
Hey Guys,
I have a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T and my Key-less Entry Remote is basically dying if not dead already. The car is 12 years old now so Im pretty sure the battery in the remote is dead and needs to be replaced. The questions is how? What battery do I need to purchase first and foremost, and also will the remote need to be re-programmed. I took the Remote apart the other day by separating the bottom half from the top (with the switchblade), and I didn't really see where the battery was and how to get at it for replacement. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You need to pry apart the bottom half of the switchblade. The fob takes standard watch batteries available at any drugstore (look at the number on the battery).
If you need to reprogram, search on this forum for complete instructions. It's easy, something like this: Put one key in ignition and turn to ON postion. Put second key in driver's door, lock car manually, then press the unlock button.

I just did this the other day. Once you replace battery as stated above you must follow this procedure or another because there are a couple. You don't need two keys for 2/3 procedures I know of. The one I used is: While holding unlock or lock button put key in drivers door and turn the key. When all of the windows go down halfway your key fob should work again. Good luck.

Key fob
I just replaced my key like an hour ago on my Audi b5. All u have to do is find extra batteries like at a drug store as quoted before and to program I only needed my one key where I used it on the drivers door. I just turned the key to lock while pressing the lock button on the key and turned it to unlock while pressing unlock button on the key and it worked right after doing that.
Hope that helps

2001 TT I just changed the battery turned the key to the left while holding the unlock button in the driver side door. After that everything on the key worked including the trunk button. Good advice guy's! Fixed it for a 12th the cost of going to the dealership.
