You should grab the wiper arms from the passat if its a b5.5. The aero wipers are much nicer and work way better than stock.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure they were the same as what's on my car now. I may have to go back anyways so if I do I'll take a look.

Bump

I just started thinking about getting a dash cam and remembered you had one. Looked back through this thread and saw you bought a G1W. I'm thinking about getting this one:
Amazon.com: Blueskysea Original Quality Real Full HD 1080P 1920x1080 H.264 G1W 2.7" LCD Car DVR Camera Recorder Dashboard Dashcam Black Box Video Recorder With G-sensor Night Vision Motion Detection Wide Degree 120° 4X Zoom: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Blueskysea Original Quality Real Full HD 1080P 1920x1080 H.264 G1W 2.7" LCD Car DVR Camera Recorder Dashboard Dashcam Black Box Video Recorder With G-sensor Night Vision Motion Detection Wide Degree 120° 4X Zoom: Car Electronics

Have you been pretty happy with yours? I read where you mentioned intermittent recording times, and one of the reviews mentioned the auto-motion capture setting was causing that for him. Any other tips & tricks you can share?

I miss this thread.

I've made a new update thread over on AZ for anyone who doesn't know. I will be posting regular updates on that thread and may come back to update this one once in awhile. You can find it here: My very own update thread - AZ edition (picture heavy)

Yeah that's the one. The issue I was having with it was solved by using a Transcend micro SD card instead of a Sandisk one. For whatever reason, these cameras do not like Sandisk cards and will get constant memory errors. Since switching to a Transcend card I haven't had any problems.

I have it hard wired to a switched ignition power source so it turns on and off with the car automatically. A 32gb card gives me about 4.5 hours of recording time before it loops.

And holy crap I signed up on AF nearly four years ago. Time sure does fly...

And I signed up the month before you did lol. But you're right, it sure does...

Thanks for the info Did you end up buying a Class 10 card or something lower? I've definitely heard of/experienced issues with SanDisk SD cards, so it wasn't totally surprising for me to hear about it.

Sure is amazing how time flies. I'm REALLY close to buying a dash cam now, was thinking to get the G1W, from estore009 on eBay for $49. But now I've read about the smaller/potentially better Dome Z7 which is $38 from gearbest.com, and same chipset as G1W. Only downsides compared to G1W are slightly blotchy night vision, some have experienced focus issues with changing temperature, and the screen is smaller. But for $38...
Also planning to get that 32GB Transcend Class 10 card.
Luckily nothing has happened [yet] requiring a dash cam, but you never know!

Anything new with your A4?

Ugh, tell me about it. A wasted year for me…

The way I see it, for how much use the dash camera will get, I'd spend the extra $12 and get the G1W. Mine is still going strong without a single problem. When funds allow I'll be upgrading to a better camera and adding a rear facing one as well.

My car hasn't been getting a whole lot of love lately. I just finished replacing the clutch on my brother's B5, that was one hell of a job. May be doing another clutch job for a friend's friend come January, which should give me enough money to do the clutch on my car! Joy.

I'm fine tuning the fitment of my euro passat engine cover right now, almost finished fitting it.
