Hi everyone, I have just joined because I am at the end of my tether. I recently bought a 1998 A4 Avant. the problem I have is with the radio system. It is stuck in safe mode and, even by following all the procedures I can't get it out of 'safe mode'. I have the code card, but after taken the radio out, realized, that the serial number and manufacturer number differ. Can anybody help?
By the way, safe mode is not flashing after I put the code in!!!

It must be from a different car, because I can take mine out (or disconnect the battery) and put it back in w/o having to put the code in.

Find out if it's ever been swapped out.

It's a serious long shot, but you can try my code. It's: 0944

Yes, the coding on the radio and (I think) the VIN number correspond to your radio and therefore your code. If you go that route, you have to get the code from the dealer (from what I understand).
