New A4 owners check in
#572
Just bought the car one week ago, I'm loving the car. I love awd cars so I have been a Subaru guy for a long time and stumbled across this car. I'm still kinda finding out what the car has done to it. I know it's got a ko4 turbo full turbo back exhaust coilovers that I'm going to have to look into. The car is way to low right now sitting on bbs reps and I can barely drive it here in Georgia.

1999 Audi A4 for free!
Good news, bad news...
Good-I got a free car from a Marine who was traveling overseas and didn't want to sell it.
Bad-Needed timing belt and had tranny leak.
The timing belt set me back $1400, but it was unavoidable, because the water pump was leaking very bad and I had to pick it up 4 hours from home.
I bought a "donor car" off Craigslist and am in the process of building up one solid car out of the best parts from both cars.

Do you like your new audi?
I do.
How long have you owned it?
3 days.
Why did you decide to buy one?
An opportunity arose. Bought it cheap as chips and although she's covered 197k, still runs as it should. Everything still works *knocks on wood*
197,000 miles!!
Was there another vehicle you were thinking about before you bought the audi?
Originally went for a 08 Passat Highline TDi but this came up too cheap to pass by.
Its just a stopgap car till i get my A4 2.0 S Line haha

Questions to answer:
Do you like your new audi? I don't- it's a paperweight on wheels.
How long have you owned it? Since August of 2015
Why did you decide to buy one? It was going to the scrapper if I didn't buy it.
Was there another vehicle you were thinking about before you bought the audi? Nope- I wasn't looking - I just happened on it.
A $300 1996 Audi A4 Quattro - replaced the upper & lower oil pan, radiator, sway bar support, passenger side tires, passenger side blinker lens, fuel pump relay, fuel pump, and fuel filter - cost me $1000 to have all that done and about $800 for all the parts. The engine runs when you spray fuel into the intake but I at this time there is no fuel at the fuel rail so it won't run at this time. I am going to see if there is fuel coming out of the hose going into the filter (to make sure the pump is wired correctly) but if it isn't that I'm stumped. Any advice at all would be great.

Can I ask a question here or no
I was wondering if this the appropriate place to ask a engine related problem ? I will follow with details if anyone cares to answer. Thanks
My car is a 1999 a4 2.8 Quattro
Just installed a new engine or refurbished whatever you want to say . We'll installed the motor, connected everything back together but all it does is just clicks . Any suggestions I don't feel like it's the starter or battery I've done tested the battery but some extra info is , when I get under the car I get a constant humming sound idk from where but I know my connections are good because as I turn to ignition on , I can hear my throttle body adjusting it self . Everything should be fine . Also the car sat for like 2 years and I yet have to put gas in it , It probably evaporated but I just wanted to crank my engine but nothing , oil is in it so is power steering fluid and some coolant not lot of coolant though just enough . Engine isn't seized up I can turn crankshaft by hand and feel compression . Someone please help I doubt it's the ignition switch also because I hear it click underneath the steering wheel

Thanks
That pretty much confirms my suspicion. I just need a warmer day to jack it up and trace it from the filter to the front. Does anyone have a diagram or schematic showing the filter line path and what obstacles I will run into? I may look into repositioning the fuel filter up front anyone done that before?
