Power Steering Mineral Oil problem
Hi all
Greetings from SA. I installed a new power steering pump last week and the guys that worked on my car put in normal hydraulic oil instead of the Pentosin Mineral oil specific for my Audi
Now I am experiencing issues when turning the car, then there is power steering then there is nothing (while turning). This is very dangerous and want to flush the oil and replace it with the proper Pentosin mineral oil.
The Audi mechanics told me to bring in the car and they will flush it which will costs thousands of Rands. According to them they will have to flush the steering rack as well etc
Here is my question - Can I just drain the oil where it goes into the pump and put in the normal mineral oil?
Hope you guys can help
Keep up the good work!!

Here's a DIY (it will flush the rack). It's for a B6, but it's the same procedure, with the exception that you don't have to remove the headlight. The use of a golf tee is ingenious:

Be sure to clean the filter located inside the reservoir with some carb or brake cleaner.
