you probably will need to replace the rack; if you search the interweb you can find rebuilt ones for about $300 plus usually a $100-$150 core charge

I would think an R8 steering wheel would fit, but it'll probably cost you $1500

welll you fix it by figuring out where its leaking and stopping the leak. and will the steering wheel from B7/8 R8 fit a b5 a4? i doubt it but you can try.

well, if you have to replace the rack use this site. I got mine from there and i have no complaints about it at all.

But I would figure out where all this liquid is coming from and I'd carry a quart of PS fluid in your trunk like I did till I got it fixed.

I hope it's not the steering rack, as it costs $1,000 to replace.
Like CAB509, I bought one from
www.carsteering.com
It works fine.

Did you have to drop the tranny to do the rack cab?

You got to find the leak before knowing what to replace. If it's the rack you can get it for a lot cheaper than $1,000!

I think an R8 steering wheel would look insanely and hillariously out of place in a B5. Is that a joke?

I paid $350 for the rack. The rest went for labor , 11S p/s fluid
and core return shipping.
