Water pump problem?
So I changed my coolant flange and before that it was my T-Stat last December. Yesterday my car was doing good but once I got home and turned it off. Then I started it up again and it was going towards hot not sure what else it could be. I drove it with no problem today. Any edvice? No leaking. 2000 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T ATW.

unscrew the coolant tank from brackets, remove the level indicator harness from below it, and hold it up in the air as far as possible. Maybe you will get some air bubbles to move up. Otherwise, when did you last do your timing belt and associated parts, like water pump? and you do have the correct coolant in there, right? and your temp sending unit in the coolant flange can go bad, and they are cheap at the dealership.

Take off the thermostat and stick you finger up into the hole, if you can move the wheel then you need a new water pump
Also you said you drove it then stopped, then started it again. What was the time difference between turning it off and starting it? If you turn of the engine and you turn it back on the coolant will be hotter then when you turned it off because it isn't getting circulated which is normal

Does it go close to the third "tick" instead of where it normally stays? And does it cool down after a minute of driving? If so then it's completely normal, it's just because the coolant isn't being circulated into the radiator to be cooled
