Hi, i have been having problems with the central locking on my dad's Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Sport. The car will not unlock/lock on the remote control fob, unless i have taken the car for a long drive. The car unlocks/locks fine with the key in the drivers door. Also on VAG-com the drivers door only registers as being shut on the measuring blocks. I have tried changing the complete lock unit on the drivers door, but the problem still persists.
I have checked the central convenience ecu for damage/water, it looks fine.
The follows faults are listed when i connect VAG-com to the central convenience ECU.
01366 - Opened due to crash signal, 35-00 - Open circuit.
01366 - Opened due to crash signal, 36-00 - Open circuit.
14405 - Unknown fault code, 50-00 Setting(Early) not reached.
14645 - Unknown fault code, 57-00 - Electric Circuit failure.

I suspect that the ecu is cooked, as VAG-com messes around connecting to it.
Can anyone help? Any help is really appreciated!!
Also if i do change the central convenience ecu, how do i match the fobs to it?

Change the batteries in the key fobs yet? I would do that before I spent anymore time or money trouble-shooting. I check to make sure but I believe the batteries part no# is CR 2032 about $2-$3 dollars at any Radio-Shack.

Yes, i forgot to mention changing the batteries was the first thing i did.
No change unfortunately!

 

None of those fault codes will cause a problem, clear them and get the key fobs programmed at the dealer, or find the DIY and do it yourself. The ECM can't be fried.

 

How do you program the fobs with vag com? cheers.

 

Search on audiworld, i can't remember how to do it exactly. I think you went to a certain data block in the adaption channels and pushed the key down until it recognized it, but thats to hard to do unless you have the instructions. If you can find the process either on audi world or ross-tech.com then it should be easy.

 

Turn the engine off. Hold the unlock button then insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the first north before the engine starts. Then turn the key back while still holding the unlock button. Take out the key.

This works for me after I unplug the battery. ^ I don't know if that is the programming you are speaking of or something more complicated.

 

I've reprogrammmed the keys using vag com, but still no change!
Is it likely to be the control unit at fault? or could it be anything else?

 

Ok you say that the vag com only recognizes the door being closed? Is this all the doors or just one of the doors? If its just one of the doors i would agree that it would be the electrical latch in the door but your fault codes don't support that. I would take off the door panel and double check all your electrical connections, i often forget to plug the latch connector back in when i install one.

 

VAG-com measuring blocks recognises all the doors open and closed except the drivers door. I have already stripped and checked the drivers door, however may it is worth another look?
