i just ordered a coolant flange and all the seals and clips to do the job. my question that i cant seem to find an answer for

what all is needed for the job. how many hose clamps did you have to cut and replace. any special tools? i am pretty handy with a wrench i just like knowing if i need anything special and not needing to run to the parts store in the middle of a job.

 

Just did the job 3 days ago on my 1.8T Quattro... my coolant flange was on the rear next to the firewall. here is a DIY writeup that helped me out:

Things that helped out:

1. remove the airbox completely
2. use a small amount of gasket maker to hold the large o-ring in place
3. Be EXTREMLY careful with the 2 bolts that hold the coolant flange to the head. I stripped one of the bolts which then lead me to tap the hole and use a larger bolt
