Major bmw fanatic buying audi!! Help (:
Hey guys im a very big bmw fan its my life, i have a 2005 325i and now my truck is scrapped so i have an 2005 Audi a4 1.8t quattro manual
What are the problems with it?
on e46fanatics.com they bash me for going against bmw and not give me advice so what are major and minor issues on this car?

Idk much about the newer ones but if you want to ever mod it thats the right setup to get. I say its better then any 3 series I have driven... hahaha sorry if that offends you a bit but I am working on an E36 right now and theres nothing good about the dang car. Take it for a test drive and have a dealer or good euro shop check it out. If its like the older 1.8's there prone to sludge if you don't use good oil and don't do your oil changes every 5000 (synthetic) but proper maintenance goes a long way on any car. I would go for it you already know the down falls of owning a euro car so your probably prepared to own a car like this.

That year and model did not come factory with the trunk spoiler, and I could be wrong, but I swear all 2005 with those options had a sharkfin antenna on the roof.
Sludge is not an issue with the later B6 1.8t. They'd replaced the small filters with large ones by then, and although you can't tell what the prior owner may have done, they're supposed to be using good oil now.
Stupid common problems are:
*Sunroof has a mind of its own and will open and close for no reason. Easy DIY fix.
*Clutch, but no more than any other car. Just never know how the prior owners drove it.
*Rear windshield radio antenna cracks and leaves you with no radio reception.
*Unlimited smiles when you pass up BMW's in the rain in snow.
*Slow as a heavy pig when stock.
*Interior rubber coating on switches peels off.
*Glove box and center armrest hinges break easily.
*Alarm horn is about as loud as a whisper. totally useless.
There are other minor things but I forget them now. I've never experienced any of the "common" stuff; I'm only going off of most common complaint posts from the other forums.
Is this car 6spd or auto? That could possibly open up a small can of worms depending on which.
Mechanicaly, however, these cars are pretty good, and relatively easy to work on, and once you get in to the forums like audizine.com and audiworld.com and audigeeks.com, you'll find that sourcing parts isn't too expensive, either.

No can of worms. 6MT rocks. Your only problem may be the clutch. But that's not the car's fault, but the fault of the previous owner.
Other than that, just the above mentioned stuff.

I agree that Audiworld.com or Audizine.com may have someone who can help you out if you find no answers here. Audizine I find more helpful, as AW tends to be a little elitist at times.
