MY GERMAN SPECIALIST CANT EVEN FIGURE THIS OUT. Can You?
Bare with me it isn't just a common issue I haven't found one person with the same exact symptoms after reading every audi forum and googling every possible symptom for weeks. Similar ones but not the same.
I have the CVT A4 1.8T 2003 95k miles. Since I bought the car its been doing a bucking/jerking/kick in low RPM. If driving in RPM exceeding 2.5k it drives smooth as it should. When I decelerate, it will sometimes kick slightly once as I come to a stop. When accelerating it will jerk hard once or twice in a row in between 1k and 2k RPM. It does this EVERY time I slow it to a point below 2k RPM. Its really hard to describe the problem without driving the car.
Imagine you are at a stoplight and it turns green, you accelerate fine with a car in front of you so you can't gas it hard; a normal acceleration. And as you are getting to when your car would auto shift(non-CVT) into 2nd gear the car jerks hard but quickly, but then drives on smoothly unless you revisit that range of RPM(as if you rode at speeds with the meter fluctuating between 1500-2000RPM) then it is random and will jerk maybe once.. maybe twice in a row.. maybe once then 2 second break and again.. or not at all...
Bare with me here it gets more complicated.
This problem is virtually eliminated at a cold start. It is 97% gone on a cold start. After about 10mins driving and engine warms up, then it becomes noticeable.
NOTE: THIS STILL OCCURS IN TIPTRONIC MODE. Even without shifting. If I stick it in tiptronic and let it ride up all the way to redline, I can still feel the bump/jerk just below 2k RPM but never after that. Then the remaining gears (2-6 in tiptronic) will work flawlessly with no jerks.
Now I took this to my German Specialist in the area and this guy is hardcore. He's working on 70s Porsche's through 2012 ones and more. And he's straight German, accent.. even looks. He knows his ****. He took it for a 15 minute drive. HE IS ******* BAFFLED BY THIS.
He ran diagnostics test over and over NOT A SINGLE CODE, FOR ANYTHING.
The other day my PRND began randomly disappearing. NOT FLASHING OR ALL SQUARES LIGHTING UP. Just disappearing. The spot they usually are would just go blank. The next time i drove it after that i was doing a K-turn and when i went into reverse, the car didn't move. I then parked it and shifted back to reverse.. nothing. Then i revved it hard in reverse and it stuttered backward and i completed the turn. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED ONE TIME, NO MORE SINCE THEN. Now if it was a TCM issue there would absolutely be a code. We unplugged the battery to reset computers in the car and it hasnt disappeared since, however the JERKING is still there.
Him and his top mechanic suggested maybe there was electrical issues since I mentioned to him that the sunroof started spazzing on me once lifting and shutting, but not opening (with car OFF). And when I turn it off now i can always hear the sunroof attempting to open but it doesnt move. So they felt my carpets and said they felt damp and suggested maybe the sunroof water leak ports that run through the A pillars may have been leaking water to the electrical motherboards underneath the carpets and screwing up its electronics. Suggested maybe this was causing a lost connection and that's why no codes were showing up?
Car has a noticeable vibration at idle that can be felt in brake pedal and steering wheel.
No feel of the jerk when revving in park.
The thing that has me and everyone baffled is that there is no ******* codes. Can't even get an idea of whats wrong because there literally not one code appearing. No check engine lights, nothing. Just a weird ******* jerk every time i stop and start or significantly slow down and then increase speed. They said maybe i should try getting the tranny fluid changed and if metal was in it they would know something is breaking/wearing down inside the tranny. I might do it since he's only charging $180.
On the other hand I'm in SERIOUS need of an oil change. I was checking service records and the previous owners last oil change was at 79k, its at 95k now. But I dont think that would create this phenomena.
Always synthetic oil, always premium gas 93 octane, isn't running rich or lean. No weird smells inside, no noises under the hood that are abnormal. New turbo and components, new timing belt and water pump. Car is 100% normal except for this issue.
Let me know what your thoughts are...

TURBONER - did you ever get this issue figured out? I'm having a similar issue with my 04 A6 with 83K miles......
