No Oil Pressure / Seized Cam?
2006 A4 2.0T Quattro 6spd 101,000 miles
I'll try to keep the story short. I let a friend borrow my A4 for a week, a few days in it stalls pulling out of a parking space. He tries to restart it and nothing happens. I have it towed to my mechanic, turns out the starter is firing but just cant turn the engine over so they turn the motor backwards a few degrees by hand and that frees it up.
When it finally starts again there is a loud clacking noise on the top end at idle and zero oil pressure at the sender (mechanical guage) yet the low oil pressure light never came on in the dash until we removed the stock sensor.
Since then, I've read about various oiling issues and siezed/broken cams, can I assume my car falls into that category? If so, do I have any hope of getting AOA to make good on it?
On a related note, I had the HPFP/cam/follower/rear cover/cam adjuster done 5 months and 6k miles ago, could this have anything to do with that? The bill cites debris from broken parts were found inside the rear cover so you'd think that they would have dropped the pan to inspect/clean, yet my mechanic and I both agree that it doesnt appear as though the oil pan had ever been removed.

Take pictures and call the dealer. They will want you to tow the car in so they can check it out. You'll have to pay for the tow and the initial diagnosis until it can be proven it was a poor install or they didn't thoroughly check the oil passages when replacing the cam. Tell the dealer you have pictures and have already called AOA and they are waiting for your update. This should put some pressure on them. It shouldn't be to hard for them to get this covered under collateral damage but some dealers are just difficult to work with. I they refuse to work with you. Then call AOA and see what they can do.
