Default New 08' A4 Owner with Stereo Question

Hey all! So i have the stock Audi Symphony deck and want to get something more modern in there, so i can easily stream my iPhone and all that. I know i have the old school 30 pin connector in the glove compartment, does anyone use a 30 pin to Lightning adapter and get that to work? I guess i want to see if any of you have upgraded, kept steering wheel functions and like your deck. Ok, go!

good luck! hahaha but really, if you want modern/easy features, itll be very expensive to upgrade properly and keep the steering wheel controls. use crutchfield to do your shopping, they can show you anything that will fit and help get the right adapters n ****

Check out Enfig for the correct harness and a dash kit that doesn't suck. They also have the best SWCI adapter, it's instantly responsive unlike the one that comes from crutchfield.

As far as replacement head unit goes; I'd personally go with the current gen Pioneer units. Bluetooth is reliable among Android and iOS devices and they support flac. Installation is a breeze and the UI is nice.

You could also go with an Android based unit from a place like carjoying or the other manufacturers that make OEM looking replacements - I can't really recommend this unless you want to spend some serious time tweaking it to work right.

I wish people would stop blindly recommending crutchfield.

yea those are good ideas.
i forgot to mention, i just use a Grom cable that i got on amazon. its a 30-pin to 3.5mm headphone jack cable. so i still have the factory head unit and steering wheel controls, the only thing that doesnt work is the song skip because it is only feeding the audio into the head unit

Same situation here. Got a Pioneer NEX 4200 installed with an adapter to keep the steering wheel controls working. CarPlay works fairly well so far. iPhone mounted alongside with a powercord to a USB source in the original cigarette lighter hole under the console flap. Pretty happy with the setup, but I wish the 4200 had a brighter screen and better display color options.

I have JL Audio in my doors and unplugged the rear tweeters, Alpine 8" Subwoofer and Alpine 5 channel Amp.

This is what you need for the 30-pin. It works for me

And I keep my steering wheel functions!

try to copy and paste that link. This is what I use in my 08 and it works flawlessly.

If link doesn't work just search amazon for

Dude, contact me at lofarodave@yahoo.com, just did pretty much this entire install myself. I'll give you the low and dirty of it. Too much to type back and forth here.
