Angry Odd stalling issue A4 2.0

Hi, all,,, I am new to this site, have two Audi's (04 A4 1.8T 6spd & 05 A4 2.0T 6spd Avant). I am a marine mechanic (diesel-electrical & electronics) don't claim to be an auto mechanic but am stumped on a weird problem.

My wifes 05 2.0 Avant stalls only on restart, after its been warmed up, and only once. You crank the engine it seems like its starving for fuel then starts and then the problen goes away. It doesn't stall while driving ( although there is a very slight hesitation issue when accelerating), only after restarting once, and only when warm. Initialy there was no DTC (codes) I took it to a local shop and got codes P0089 Intake manifold Runner position sensor switch and P0089 Fuel Pressure Regulator performance. But they are not sure that is the real issue. I am wondering if this is a vacuum problem throwing false codes.

I am purchasing a VAG pro PC program, but wont have it for a few weeks, has anyone come across this issue?

Anything that has to do with fuel pressure screams a cam follower fail. Your cam follower is located right under your fuel pump which follows your cam. Theres a good DIY here

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...IY-in-PDF-form

Its not very hard to check it out, but if your cam has worn through your follower, your lookin at replacing the cam, follower and fuel pump. They are a known failure on these b7's and some have failed as early as 30k miles. I just replaced mine at 50k miles and i could deff see some wear in it. The follower itself is a pretty cheap part, bout 50k. I'd say check the follower and start with that.

It looks to me there are two if not three issues along with the battery voltage possibly throw false codes, in looking at all the dtc's secveral point to the crankcase ventilation valve and or vacum leak I am going to replace the battery since twice at static I have register below 12.5 vdc ( even though it cranks the engine normally and with ever a problem) then the cam follower but i am also concerned this is a cam sensor and or maf issue on thing at a time. I see many people have this proplem on other audi forms as well if anyone has any suggestions or similar experience with this problem please feel free to elaborate. A new symptom has cropped up, when shifting gears the rpms do not drop they actually increase slightly,, this seems to be a alltogether seperate issue.

My B7 had a bad cam follower and I had the same issues when it would shift (revs going up). Here is what was happening. When I'd accelerate hard, like merging into Rte 95 traffic outside of Boston (has to be seen to be believed) things would go fine for about 5 seconds, then the fuel pressure would bleed down because the follower wasn't making a full stroke on the hi-pressure pump. The ECM would sense low pressure, kick the transmission into a lower gear (trying to continue acceleration) and the revs would go back up. I swore I had a transmission problem, but the cam follower job did the trick.
