Oil Problems
#2
i have the 2.0t in my 2008 quattro and only use mobil 1 0w-40 and do oil changes every 5k and check in between and i dont have much of a problem, not like some other people with different engines. which engine do you have? you'll just have to keep an eye on it and do the math for yourself, audi says 1qt per 1000miles is 'normal' i think. you can put a piece of cardboard under the engine when parked to see if it leaks...

Funny thing is with these engines, some use some don't. My 06 fortunately doesn't, even with 132,000 miles. Turbo's due to the higher pressures tend to use more than a non turbo'ed engine. From what I've heard oil usage is more of an issue for the B8 body, with the TFSI motor which has a little more power and much more torque than ours.

Just like B7 said, some do and some don't. Don't let it alarm you by any means. Keep a quart in your trunk and top off as necessary. And be proactive and check the oil every once in awhile when your car has been sitting for a few hours BEFORE you drive anywhere. The best time to check is in the morning before work after letting it sit all night, that way all the oil has a chance to drip back into the pan. But that doesn't mean you don't have a leak, check for that too. Enjoy!

Thanks guys I went back and looked at my in voice and it was and it was 2,034 miles into a new oil change when it was low. Audi told me that it shouldn't be a problem unless it was at 1k miles. I'm keepin track and keepin an eye on the levels from here on out. And I got myself an 06 2.0t s-line

That ought to work just fine. A quart per 2K does show some wear or possibly some use through the turbo bushing, but it's not a real problem. Good idea to keep records of it so that you spot any change in oil consumption.

keep a 5 quart jug in the trunk you will need it...people worry about changing the synthetic oil on these cars every 3-5k miles but mine burns 10 quarts between 10k oil changes so it always has fresh oil LOL!
