Default Car won't start (after oil consumption fix)

2009 A4 2.0T Quattro
69k mi
extended warranty
Bought used in late 2011 with 42k mi

Got the piston rings upgrade done about 3-4 weeks ago to fix the oil consumption problem, as my A4 was consuming a quart about every 500-800 miles. Now that they did the job, about 3-4 weeks ago, my car this morning won't start. Not battery related as all electronics are working and the engine is working to start upon pushing ignition. I'll never buy Audi again. Covered under extended warranty, but this car really is a constant head ache. I'm going back to the reliable Japanese brands. Dissatisfied customer

Sounds like the engine control relay.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with that component. What makes you think it could be that? I'm all ears. I just can't help but think it's related to the work they did on my engine about a month ago.

The engine control relay tells the ECU to wake up and take over the engine management. If the relay fails, the car will crank, but the engine will not start. I had this issue and it was a "pita" to figure out. The relay in not expensive and is located next to the ECU.

You call the dealer and tell them they did something to the car that prevents it from starting. This is not a coincidence it was something done when reassembling the motor. Call them and tell them to come get it and fix it and you will not pay them. Contact the dealer GM .

Well it's been 18 days since I had my 2009 A4 towed to the dealership, after it wouldn't start. Been driving one of their loaners since then. First they told me it was the starter. After they replaced the starter, still wouldn't start. Then they looked more and said it was the fly wheel. They had to order the fly wheel which took several days, and after they installed it, the car still wouldn't start. My service advisor at the dealership told me he'd call me today with an update, but still hasn't. This is becoming a nightmare experience. Covered under extended warranty, but my car that I bought just sits at the dealership all time, because they either can't fix it, or are screwing me over and I just don't realize it yet. Boardwalk Audi in Dallas.
