94 audi 90cs HELP!!
Hi my names josh. I own a 94 Audi 90cs. This piece helps keep the car on in the lock cylinder. The protruding parts is broken off on one side. What is this part called?
Goes into the ignition lock cylinder.
Been using this but still has issues.
Any suggestions as to what this part is?

I believe the broken metal part is part of the ignition lock cylinder/tumbler assembly. The black plastic assembly looks like the ignition starter switch. These parts should be readily available on ebay or Pelican Parts may have them. Otherwise, you may have good luck at a local junk yard or online Audi dismantler (google Shokan Audi Parts).

bassically, your F***ed.
that metal piece your trying to identify, is a piece of metal which fits over the end of your tumbler, (look at the link below, the metal mystery piece goes over the black tip, on the most opposite end from the key hole)
SMP/STANDARD US-328L Switch, Ignition Lock & Tumbler | eBay
the mystery piece, also, is inserted into the hole in the ignition switch. (the beige hole)
SMP/STANDARD US-397 Switch, Ignition Starter | eBay
this is where it gets difficult, though. the mystery piece, which connects the ignition tumbler to the ignition switch, has a small metal rod which runs through the center. when you start the car, you push the key IN and THEN turn. when you push the key in, the rod is pushed, which then pushes in a small spring loaded button inside of the ignition switch.
By looking at your picture, the mystery piece is broken. Just as mine was. i got lucky, and located an assembly on ebay (tumbler, key, switch, mystery piece ALL INSIDE of an ignition housing.) I tried calling many junk yards, and had no luck. tried welding the mystery piece, and then machining it, but the bond was not strong enough, and broke. I called a few different audi part specialists, and even had the wrong ignition assembly sent to me from Germany. the mystery piece doesn't have a part number, so its tough to find.
what i suggest you do, is try to find a whole ignition assembly at a junk yard/ebay. If you don't have any luck, I would then suggest installing a push start, but its tricky... you've got 10 wires coming out of the switch, its no '55 Chevy.

lastly, you could send the broken mystery piece to a machinist, and they could make one out of metal. he/she would have to guess the dimensions of the broken/missing part of the piece. you would also have to find the right size rod to put in there too.
