car starts, but won't stay running
I have 2001 allroad. 3 days ago it wouldn't start. It would fire when the key was first turned, but wouldn't start. If I keep the key turned, it turns over without firing again. Battery is no issue. Great spark. After waiting 30 minutes it started and sputtered at first and ran. No problems restarting the rest of the day. Repeat the next day. Today it started, but if I touch the gas pedal it quits. If I let it idle, it quits. It starts right back up upon turning the key again, but won't stay running. I'm at a loss. I know it is a fuel issue. Anybody with similar problems and solutions?

My friends has the same car one year newer and his problem was with the in tank fuel pump what was happening was he would always just sit the car on about 1/4 tank of gas and all the dirt and grime would sit at the bottom so every time he started the car dirt and grime would get stuck in it. After time he car would just die if he got on the gas then after a long time the car wouldn’t start unless you waited which was the dirt falling of the pump I assume then it could start but it would suck it up again and cloged it. We would try a full tank to and it started but still once we got on the gas it died. We ended up changing his full pump now it works fine.
