Default Advice on care for A4 convertible fabric and mechanism

I'm looking for Advice on care for a 2005 A4 convertible fabric and mechanism.

Wash with soap and water?
Special soap and water?
Other?
Fabric treatment and conditioner?
Should I worry about lubrication of mechanism?

Forget about the fabric. What you really want to maintain is the rubber seals. If they become brittle you are in for a world of hurt, or leakage. Here's the thing you need:

Amazon.com: einszett 914806 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz: Automotive Amazon.com: einszett 914806 'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick - 3.4 fl. oz: Automotive

You should apply it at least twice a year. You need it both against the temperature changes and against the sun (UV) exposure.

Thanks Squiddie,
I've done the best first step as I have just moved into a house with a closed garage...
I will be able to keep the Audi inside for the icy winter, and I'll drive my other cars through the nasty stuff.
