I have some deep scratches on the driver’s side and the rear bumper. I am thinking about getting it patched and painted but I am worried about the following. I would appreciate any experience or advice on these issues. Because so far, every time my dealer (in Brooklyn) touches my car, it gets worse.

1. Quality of paint and finish, color match. Do shops get pretty much of a perfect match? Or should I just accept that is impossible and consider it a tradeoff. Even if they match color for new paint, since my car is already 3 years old, will the old paint look different from the new?

2. Go with my local Audi dealer ($1,100 estimate) or a local paint shop ($850 estimate)? Are dealers any better? I would guess they outsource (maybe not?) but presumably they give repeat business only to a shop that is half-decent.

3. If I go with a dealer, is New Country in Greenwich, CT a good dealer? Might they do/arrange a better paint job?

4. Any recs for a good independent paint shop in Brooklyn NY? One that cares about doing “quality” work?
