2016 A6 dash?

What does the narrow shelf above the dash and next to the windshield do? It has a chrome lip and extends all the way across the front of the dash top. Thanks.

I guess so since it flows out of the upper door contour lines...hmm

Could be.. Or it might house some cameras to catch you picking your nose while you drive. LOL

Pretty sure it's just a design element to do the wrap around effect seen in a lot of newer cars today.
