A4 cabrio- centre brake light indicator
I recently purchased a 2005 A4 1.8T convertible with 18k miles. The center brake light indicator comes on very sporadically (5 times a day to once a week) and for various durations (one second to 2 hours), and various times (when starting the car or after driving for an hour, or anytime inbetween). I have confirmed that the center brake light does not work when this indicator is on. I have now had into the shop 3 times and it is not fixed. They replaced a connector in the trunk, but that did not help. I suspect a loose connection somewhere.... any suggestions? thanks

Usually the center brake light is working when you hit the brakes, but when the warning light/beep comes on the center light is out. I confirmed this last night when I kept my foot down on the brake as soon as the warning came on and had my wife check the back of the car. The center light was indeed out, but the other two lower lights were working. It doesn’t always say “center brake light” in the warning. Sometimes it just says “brake light”
I recently replaced the passenger side lower brake light, but both are working now.
I'm thinking something is loose since the center light doesn’t seem to be burned out, or something needs reset since I replaced that lower light.
Thanks for your help!
